Amy Litteken Thompson

MS, OTR/L, CLCP

Amy Litteken Thompson received a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from St. Louis University in 1997.  She later earned a post-professional M.S. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.  In 2019, Ms. Thompson completed Capital University Law School’s life care planner program.  She graduated with highest honors from both universities and her life care planning program.  She holds national registration and a state license in occupational therapy and certification in life care planning.

Ms. Thompson gained experience with diverse populations in urban and rural settings as she moved with her husband’s military career.  She worked as an occupational therapist in many healthcare and educational settings, including skilled nursing, in-patient, outpatient adult and pediatric therapy, school districts, early intervention, and home health.

Additionally, she owned a small occupational therapy pediatric practice in Alaska, managed an outpatient pediatric clinic in South Dakota, and taught classes as an adjunct instructor for the University of Maryland University College at the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE) education office in Belgium. While she has varied experience, her passion and the majority of her experience lies in pediatrics, where she continues to practice therapy.  She is excited to bring her skill gained from years of experience to the specialty of life care planning.

Ms. Thompson is an active member in the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, the International Academy of Life Care Planners, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and the South Dakota Occupational Therapy Association, currently serving as the West River Chairperson.  She presented at the South Dakota Trial Lawyer’s annual seminar and at the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals annual conference.  She also authored an article, “How to Withstand a Life Care Plan Daubert Challenge,” for the July, 2020 issue of the Wyoming trial lawyers’ publication.
